Chegg is a great place to buy and rent textbooks, and an incredibly convenient way to access course materials. This site has been providing students with free resources for over 30 years! However, it isn't very secure. If you're not careful, your account can be hacked. If this happens, you'll lose all of the important stuff, like your password. Here's how to do it... Even the simplest of us can be bamboozled into choosing an easy-to-guess or just totally random password for an online account that we wouldn't think twice about sharing if we weren't faced with the reality of a compromised account. Better yet, we usually use our real name and email address for those accounts too... right? That's why it's so important to choose a secure password. Hackers know this a well, and they can use a variety of techniques to crack your password, from sending phishing emails to installing keystroke logging software on your computer. But it's actually REALLY EASY to generate a secure password on your own, and it's literally as easy as using the acronym "Diceware" to create an extremely strong passphrase. Douglas Adams (yes, he who created The Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy ) came up with this Diceware method of generating passwords in order to protect his own family (he had five kids... good thing he did). He took 6 words that were generated at random by rolling dice. Using this method, he was able to create 85 bits of entropy in his password. NOTE: 85 bits of entropy is VERY secure, and will take quite a while for anyone to crack. Let's say the word you're picking four-word chunks from is "BigWinters.com". You roll two dice, and you get 16 and 18. So the first four words of your passphrase are "Big Winters." Now, you do it again with another set of dice... so this time, 3 and 16... so the next 4 words are "big Winters." You keep going until you have a total of 6 words in your passphrase. Here are the full 6-word passesphrases that they created for themselves. It's really random, so you don't have to follow this exact format, but just use your imagination. DICE WORD TOTALS 1st Dice : 16Dice Outcome: "Big Winters"2nd Dice : 18Dice Outcome: "Big Winters"3rd Dice : 18Dice Outcome: "Big Winters"4th Dice : 16Dice Outcome: "Big Winters"5th Dice : 3Dice Outcome: "bigwinters.com"6th Dice : 3Dice Outcome: "bigwinters. eccc085e13
